Goliath Tournament Application
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Dr. Robert Ellis, Brothers Outdoors is extremely excited to announce that we will be hosting the FIRST EVER Goliath Grouper Tournament in the history of Florida!
The tournament will take place between April 01, 2022 through July 31, 2022 and will only be accessible in the State waters of Charlotte, Collier, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and
This is a Catch-and-Release tournament approved by FWC and the event's sole purpose is to collect data and samples for FWC to gather more accurate information on current Goliath Grouper population numbers and hopefully make positive changes to the current Goliath Grouper "season".
All goliath grouper caught must be held alive (to the best of the angler’s ability) in the
water and MUST be immediately released ALIVE AND UNHARMED once fin clips
are taken. Any dead goliath grouper must be turned over to event officials or staff for
Event officials and staff are authorized to possess all goliath grouper fin clips harvested
during this event pursuant to Special Activity License # SAL-22-2346-SRP, issued to the
Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI).
All goliath grouper fin clips retained by event officials and staff during the course of this
event must be turned over to FWRI staff upon conclusion of the event. Only FWRI staff
may permanently retain goliath grouper fin clips.

All participants must fill out and submit the application in person at Brothers Outdoors, by mail, or via email [email protected] Upon approval, applicants will be given a waiver allowing them to participate in the event and legally handle the fish.
